This week’s athlete of the week is Krystal Roberts, a junior on the varsity soccer team team.
Roberts starts this soccer season for Wa-Hi as an outside right or left wing. Roberts has played soccer for ten years and is a three sport athlete playing soccer, basketball and track and field.
Why did you start playing soccer?
“I played basketball and was interested in playing another sport and soccer sounded fun.”
Why did you like soccer?
“I like the team aspect and being able to make friends. It also makes bonds with people who you wouldn’t always see.”
Favorite Wa-Hi game or memory?
“This year at Kennewick when Lorena Ramirez (a teammate) scored three goals. We played with a lot of energy and played well as a team”
Have you and your team bonded this year?
“Yes. We have team dinners and team activities. I feel like we can depend on one another outside and inside soccer.”
What do you enjoy doing outside of soccer?
“I enjoy being with family and friends, attending youth group, being outdoors and photography.”
Who is you support team?
“My parents, teammates and friends all support me.”
Who inspires you in soccer?
“Mikayla Ferenz and Maddy Sirmon. They are amazing athletes and helped our team last year”
What is your greatest accomplishment in your soccer career?
“Learning to be more aggressive on the field and learning to communicate with my team.”
