Cheerleader Hayley Taylor earned the opportunity of a lifetime when she was invited by the Universal Cheerleaders Association staff to be on the All-American varsity cheer team and perform with them in London. Taylor’s coach invited the UCA staff to come in and host a cheer camp for the Wa-Hi Cheer Team.
Taylor participated on a team of over 1,100 people that performed in the London New Year’s Day parade in the heart of London. “The whole experience was amazing. It felt like all eyes were on me. I honestly felt like a celebrity,” Taylor said.
The cheerleaders routine at the end of the parade was televised, so it was all-or-nothing. “Confetti was flying down and fog machines were going off,” Taylor said.
Taylor was in London for a week, so she had time for more than just cheering. She had a special tour guided by a UCA staff member to see the sights. She visited Abbey Road, the studio where The Beatles rehearsed, the Tower of London, Big Ben, Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle. She also saw the play “Wicked” and went shopping downtown.
