Freshman Jennifer Cho and sophomore Kylie Humphreys will be advancing to the state level competition of the CBMEA Solo and Ensemble music contest after their performance at the regional level at Richland High School on Feb 4.
Cho placed first at the regional level and qualified for state for her violin solo. “I didn’t expect it, and when I got the news I started freaking out,” Cho said. “I didn’t think that I would make it that far. I tried to practice an hour every day, but I got really into it and practice sessions could go on for two or three hours.”
Humphreys also placed first at the regional level and qualified for state for her French horn solo. “It was very exciting; I didn’t think that I would make it,” Humphreys said. “The next thing I’m going to do is memorize my piece for State.”
The state competition will take place on April 28.
